The Davey Group automates up to 60% of manual processes using Greentree
iStart Australia Article
January 2009

iStart AustraliaQueensland's vibrant mining, transport and agricultural sectors continue to drive growth and change in companies like The Davey Group where the incumbent business system could be ‘patched’ no longer...

The Davey Group encompasses 14 companies each with its own unique needs and each focused on providing heavy machinery and services to an array of industries including agriculture, mining, forestry and road transport.

The Davey Group - users of Greentree business management softwareWhilst the incumbent system had been faithful, many external processes and systems had been developed to beef-up its capability and Michael O’Connor, CFO says: “we simply couldn’t keep sticking band-aids on it and more importantly, it wasn’t enabling business growth – it just had to go”.

O’Connor says they needed to significantly reduce manual tasks and processes in order to get on top of costs and Greentree’s Job Costing capability and integration were seen as key to achieving this.

Palfinger lifts their game with Greentree automation
iStart Australia Article
December 2008

iStart AustraliaThe giant crane company has lifted its game Down Under by automating accounting for its huge parts distribution business for the first time...

Founded in 1932, Palfinger is an Austrian crane company with a major New Zealand and Australian presence.

The multinational company is a giant, with 30 percent market share and is one of the world’s biggest crane manufacturers. However, Palfinger Australia was still using manual accounting for the distribution of thousands of parts – which it had been doing for years. It definitely needed an upgrade.

Palfinger Australia - users of Greentree business management softwareAlthough its manual system was still working just fine, the management team could see that as the business was growing it was starting to place unsustainable pressures on manual systems and processes.

A specific problem was the number of people needed to update price lists – of, potentially, 40,000 line items of inventory.

This just wasn’t physically possible. Management also saw this would eventually diminish productivity and constrain growth.

Pecan nut supplier boosts quality control and business process visibility
iStart Australia Article
October 2008

iStart AustraliaThe country’s largest pecan nut grower turned to Greentree to reduce business risk and improve process disciplines...

Stahmann Farms is a privately held company, and is the largest pecan nut grower and processor in the Southern Hemisphere.

From New South Wales and Queensland Stahmann Farms grows, processes, and distributes pecan nuts to Australian supermarkets, major wholesalers and export to USA, Europe, Asia and New Zealand. The company is also a major toll processor of Macadamia Nuts.

Stahmann Farms - users of Greentree business management softwareJohn Howard, finance and administration manager at Stahmann Farms, says that several factors had increased the business’s risk, and amplified the need for greater visibility of inventory.

These included business growth, shortened customer supply time cycles and inventory management.

Risky manual processes needed to be factored out of inventory management whilst a coherent quality control process needed to be factored in. Poor visibility of the status of stock and slow enquiry times was frustrating and increased the opportunity for error thus predisposing the business to even greater risk.

Positive Result for Greentree in UK Lab Test
Report by David Carter - accountingweb.co.uk
October 2007

Greentree is experiencing significant growth in the UK market. This is strongly supported by a review and lab test of Greentree's Financial Suite that has garnered much praise from the UK reviewer...

"Clearly, Greentree is a product of the first rank."

Accountingweb.co.ukThe overall standard of the software is very high, but certain features call for particular praise. Examples are: the use of coding hierarchies (“trees”) for reporting; different screen layouts for entering different types of transaction line; the ability to post to several companies within the one transaction; and the GL Enquiry screen being effectively a window onto the entire GL database.

Greentree offers a full range of modules in addition to the accounting ledgers covered in this review. The developer’s representative showed me the CRM module which looked extremely good, suggesting that a similar standard prevails across the rest of the range.

Greentree is little known in this country [the UK]. However, it should be stressed that it has an established track record as a premier supplier in Australia/NZ.

And as I have argued elsewhere, with the private equity industry now targeting software companies, buying from a long-established and well-known UK vendor is no longer quite the safe option it used to be.

UK reseller Prerogative says it is promoting Greentree to more experienced and therefore more discriminating customers. This makes sense.

"If you are the sort of user who is looking to work with a small supplier of top quality business software, then Greentree can be strongly recommended."

David Carter

Greentree's super-integration clinches buy decision ahead of SAP, Navision & Pronto
July 2007

Armflame - users of Greentree business management softwareEstimating, calculating and quoting labour costs are core business activities for Armflame a gas and pipe Installation Company in Queensland Australia. With over 30 field staff covered by multiple pay and award agreements the calculation of labour is complicated. This being the case it’s not surprising that John Todd, Armflame CFO required any new software system to automatically calculate and charge back payroll costs to the job without having to re-key data. What was surprising for John was that only a handful of software vendors had actually figured this out.

Armflame - users of Greentree financial management softwareHaving experienced several software and systems implementations over the years, John knew exactly what he was looking for from a software supplier. The key attributes were the ability of the supplier to quickly grasp requirements and explain in plain-vanilla English exactly how the offering would meet those requirements. John and his team of eight ERP evaluators invited product demonstrations from Greentree, SAP and Pronto but the stand-out performer on a number of key factors was Greentree. Navision was looked at but eliminated as it did not have an integrated payroll system....

“Greentree will give us the ability to add value to our business, control our job cost and improve the way we do business over the long term, but also with some quick short term gains.”

Greentree readies for growth spurt
The Dominion Post article by Tom Pullar-Strecker
30 July 2007

New Zealand's answer to SAP, Auckland-based enterprise resource planning software vendor Greentree, will invest $1.1 million on improving its software to help meet its ambitious goal of growing its customer base from 800 to 10,000-plus customers.

The Dominion PostThe company, which employs 42 staff, has received a $350,000 grant from the Foundation of Research, Science and Technology to develop a sophisticated testing tool.

Greentree chief executive Peter Dickinson says the tool will improve the reliability and compatibility of updates and enhancements to its software, making it safer to push these out more regularly.

"We already have very automated systems for deploying updates and we release them every night and that has the fantastic benefit that customers get new features quickly. The downside is if you 'break anything'.

"What we are looking to do with this grant is to put in incredibly clever testing tools so we can put out the most bulletproof software quickly."
